Hnry are undergoing a period of rapid growth and we are building out our internal finance team by introducing a Finance Specialist role. This newly established role will be in a small but mighty team, tackling new challenges everyday.
We are looking to create a fast-moving and innovative finance team at Hnry, built with the goal of delivering the best outcomes to all of our stakeholders. This role will be crucial in maintaining the internal culture of how finance works at Hnry. We want to build an approachable, fun, and engaging finance team at Hnry.
🚀 Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, and preparing month-end journal entries for Hnry's group of companies.
- Manage all accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying transaction details, and ensuring timely payments. Oversee accounts receivable activities, such as issuing invoices, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding receivables.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to prepare monthly management accounts, including budget variance analysis and key metric reports for both internal stakeholders and external shareholders, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Work with the Finance Manager and Hnry’s external advisors to ensure compliance with all tax obligations across Hnry Group Companies, including GST, income tax, payroll tax, and ACC. Prepare and submit accurate tax filings on time.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. Assist in implementing and maintaining streamlined financial systems and processes.
- Assist the Finance Manager and Head of Finance in coordinating with external auditors and financial advisors during the preparation and review of statutory financial statements.
- Regularly monitor company bank accounts, ensuring sufficient liquidity for ongoing business activities and upcoming financial commitments.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and Head of Finance to support budgeting processes, cash flow forecasting, and development of long-term financial projections for the company.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Negotiate favourable terms where applicable.
- Assist in the annual insurance and workers' compensation review and policy renewal processes, ensuring adequate coverage and cost-effectiveness for the company.
- Ensure all financial policies, procedures, and documentation are up-to-date, well-documented, and adhered to across the organization.
- Collaborate effectively with the Finance Manager, Head of Finance, and other Hnry team members, contributing to a positive and proactive team culture.

Bonus points for the following:
- Previous experience using accounting software e.g. ApprovalMax
- Experience being self-employed (freelancing, contracting etc) in any industry/profession
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, agile workplace
- Prior experience within a SaaS based organisation
